
During the semester the student will participate in the Junior Achievement program. The program ends with a field trip to the JA Finance Park in Wilmington, Delaware. Junior Achievement is an economic education program that will provide hands-on experiences. During the semester the students will be preparing for a real-life simulation through classroom instructions on personal financial management, career exploration, and much more. The field trip to the JA Finance Park will allow the students to demonstrate their knowledge and bring the concepts learned to "real-life."
In addition, the students will complete the seventh grade curriculum for iSafe (Internet Safety). The students will learn such things as: ways that they can protect themselves, and how to be smart when using the internet.
During the semester the students will be working on the 2007 MS Office package that will incorporate an Introduction to Business course. The MS Office Package consists of: MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Excel. The students will be required to complete large projects in addition to the daily activities that go on in class. The material covered will help the students with their other classes as well as in high school. Discussion will include how these skills can help them as they move on to another level of education or become employed. In addition, the students will complete the eighth grade curriculum for iSafe (Internet Safety). The students will learn such things as: Online computer safety, cyber bullying, how to recognize cyber bullying, ways that they can protect themselves, and how to be smart when using the internet.
Passing this course in addition to passing the iSafe curriculum will have the students on their way to meeting the state requirement towards computer literacy.
