HOMEWORK CENTER PROGRAM

Dear Parent or Guardian:

The Homework Center Program has begun! This after school program meets both Monday and Thursday from 2:15 - 4:15 pm. The program's design is to offer services and support to those students who are failing to complete their homework and class work.  If your child is missing three (3) or more Homework and/or Class work assignments in a class subject, that teacher will assign them to the Homework Center. Your child will then be expected to attend as many sessions needed to make-up the missed work. This program will give students the opportunity to gain back lost credit on missed assignments. Work that is not turned in will receive a zero. Transportation is provided but will make community stops only. Therefore, the after school bus may be different from the child's normal bus stop.

Those students, who attend the Homework Center Program and complete their assignments, will only have 10% of the grade they earn deducted. Thus, by attending the Homework Center Program, students will have the opportunity to turn their "zeros" on missed assignments to credit less 10% of their earned score. If a student fails to attend their assigned session(s) without an excused absence, they will receive zero credit for the missed assignments.

NOTE: If your child has a detention scheduled on the same day as the Homework Center, their detention will be reassigned for Saturday School so as NOT to miss HW Center.

A ParentLink notification from your child's school will remind you of your child's scheduled time for the after school Homework Center Program as well as a Referral Form to the HW Center given to the student by their referring teacher.

Should you have any additional questions about this program, please contact the HW Center's Program Advisor, Mrs. Nina Tolbert via email tolbertn@christina.k12.de.us or by phone at 302-454-2171 x105.

Thank you.
