This week, we are continuing our new unit on Westward Movement to the Pacific. This unit will cover the history of the United States from 1785 through 1850.   We will continue our discussion on our involvement in the War of 1812. Students will complete many activities this week including:  completing Cornell Notes and summarizing them, learning about the War of 1812 through the use of Cornell Notes, readings, charts, a small movie, and class discussions. We will end the week with our discussion  about technology in the 1800's such as steamboats, canals, the National Road, the Cotton Gin, and the railroad.  We will also begin our discussion about the  westward migration of people during this time period as well as the age of Andrew Jackson and the importance that he had on the growth of the United States as a nation.
