Shue-Medill - Students

PTA FAQS

WHERE DO THE PTA DUES GO?

Dues are paid to National PTA $1.75 and State PTA office $2.00. This money is used for newsletters, parent education programs and PTA leadership training. It is also used for general office needs, such as copying, postage, etc.. In Delaware, the Christina School District has given us office space to use rent free.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE A MEMBER?

It is a show of support for your child, your school, and for PTA programming.

DO I HAVE TO COME TO THE MEETINGS?

No. But, it will give you an idea of what is going on in the school and give you an opportunity to ask questions.

DO I HAVE TO VOLUNTEER?

No. Parent involvement means anything from being PTA President to reading with your child each night. We think that if you have the time, volunteering in the school will be rewarding as you connect more with teachers, meet more of your child's classmates, and help you to feel more connected to the Shue-Medill community.
