Grade 6: Western Hemisphere and Civics

Students focus on Civic standards during the first half of the year. The students will look at the Powers of Government, Relationships of Government, and Citizenship and Participation. The second half of the year the students focus on Economic Standards. At the end of each unit, students work on a summative assessment that will help teachers to see which students understand the main Social Studies standard addressed during the unit.

  • Unit 2: Relationship of the Three Levels of Government
  • Unit 3: Citizenship
  • Unit 4: Geography of the Western Hemisphere
  • Unit 5: Banking and Taxes
  • Unit 6: Political Independence and Economic Interdependence

Grade 7: Eastern Hemisphere Studies (3000 B.C. to 1500 A.D)

Students focus on Ancient Civilizations thru Medieval Times. Students start out the year with a drive to understanding mental mapping. The students then move into the Ancient Civilizations of Egypt, Mesopotamia, African tribes, Romans, Asia and the Medieval Times of Europe and Asia. At the end of each unit, students work on a summative assessment that will help teachers to see which students understand the main Social Studies standard addressed during the unit.

  • Unit 2: Cradle of Civilization
  • Unit 3: Sub-Sahara Africa
  • Unit 4: The Mediterranean and North Africa
  • Unit 5: Western and Northern Europe
  • Unit 6: Far East (Southeast Asia and Eastern Europe)

Grade 8: United States History from Colonization up to the Reconstruction Era

Students focus on American History from the 13 colonies thru the Civil War. Students will look at the history of our country through the "how's and why's" instead of the "what's". At the end of each unit, students work on a summative assessment that will help teachers to see which students understand the main Social Studies standard addressed during the unit.

  • Unit 3: Life in the Expanded Nation
  • Unit 4: Expansion Westward
  • Unit 5: A Nation Divided
  • Unit 6: Civic Rights and Economic Freedom
